Video game movies have a bad reputation because they’re a hit or miss. And that’s because gamers expect a lot from the movies. There are a lot of movies that I felt should have been left on consoles or PCs, but there are those that are really good they’re some of the best movies ever made.

Resident Evil: Retribution (2012): It’s a goofy, gory, and an absolute masterpiece. It’s what the gamers and moviegoers have been asking for a Resident Evil movie. Retribution is the best Resident Evil movie ever and one of the best video game based movie.
Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001): This movie set the standard for all video game-based movie: a fun, light action flick that operates as a real movie. Tomb Raider proves that a video game movie doesn’t need to follow the source material closely to be good.
Pokemon: The First Movie (1999): Yes, this is that “Pokemon” movie that made you cry.
Hitman: Agent 47 (2015): The game was about a stealthy genetically enhanced assassin, traveling to international locations eliminating contracted targets. Translate that into an R-rated action movie, and it becomes really enjoyable.
